How to fix common problems with the Landbot MCP and the Landbot Plugin

Desirée M Updated by Desirée M

This article covers common problems with the Landbot MCP and the Landbot Plugin: access, missing tools, connection links, publishing, lost changes and designs that don't show. When something goes wrong, your AI assistant or AI coding tool shows the problem in the chat.

What to do when Landbot refuses access to your account

If the Landbot MCP or the Landbot Plugin reports that Landbot refused access, check these causes:

● The sign-in didn't finish or has expired. Sign in to Landbot again. In Claude, disconnect and reconnect the Landbot connector. In Claude Code, type /mcp and sign in to the Landbot connection again. In Codex, run codex mcp login landbot.

● Landbot asks for more access. A later request for permission is normal: it means the AI tool wants to make a new kind of change, such as changing how the web chat looks. Approve it in your browser.

● Your Landbot user can't view or edit agents. Ask a workspace admin to give you permission to view and edit chatbots.

What to do when the Landbot tools aren't available

● With the Landbot Plugin: the plugin loads in a new session. If you installed it during a session, start a new session, or type /reload-plugins in Claude Code.

● With the Landbot MCP: check that the Landbot connection is connected. In Claude, open Customize › Connectors; in Claude Code, type /mcp.

A connection link from the Landbot MCP or the Landbot Plugin stops working when it expires, when access is declined or when you're not signed in to Landbot:

● The link expired: links last 15 minutes and work once. Ask for a new link.

● Access was declined: ask for a new link and approve access this time.

● You're not signed in: open the link in a browser where you're signed in to Landbot, with a user that can edit integrations.

● Your Google Sheet isn't listed: paste the sheet's link into the chat.

Why can't the Landbot MCP or the Landbot Plugin publish your agent?

When publishing fails, nothing changes for visitors: the previous version keeps running. The Landbot MCP and the Landbot Plugin report the reason. It can be one of these:

Reported reason

What it means

What to do

Some blocks have problems

A question or step is missing a required setting

Ask for a fix

The agent has no greeting

Web agents need a first question before they can go live

Ask to add a greeting

The agent was built in the previous builder

Agents from the previous Landbot builder can't be changed this way

Ask for a new agent

A connected account isn't valid

A Google Sheets, SendGrid or Calendly block uses an account that isn't connected to your Landbot account

Connect the account again, then publish

A Jump to block points nowhere

The agent it jumps to isn't published or is in the trash

Publish or restore that agent, or ask to remove the Jump to block

For the full list of reasons Landbot can refuse a publish, see Bots API errors.

Why did your changes disappear?

Changes disappear when a Landbot builder tab, open while the Landbot MCP or the Landbot Plugin was changing the agent, saves its older copy of the agent. Refresh any open builder tab after the changes are finished, and ask your AI assistant or AI coding tool to restore what's missing.

Why doesn't your new design show on the web chat?

A new design from the Landbot MCP or the Landbot Plugin doesn't show when the agent is already published and the design is still in the draft. Publish the agent from the Landbot builder to make the design live. On the Sandbox plan, Custom CSS doesn't apply at all. For more causes, see How to style your Landbot web chat with the Landbot Plugin or the Landbot MCP.
