Any of the above Output

When using the Buttons block, did you ever wonder what was the "Any of the above" output and how to use it? In this article, we will explain everything about it!

Note: In the Video tutorial you'll see that the Any of the above output referred to the 'Default' output, this is because we've updated the name but it works in the same way πŸ˜‰

For Landbot (Web)

The Any of the avobe button is part of every Buttons block. It is an element that allows the flow to move on to the next block of the conversation in certain cases:

The Buttons block has only one output

If the Buttons block has only one button and therefore one output, you can either connect the Button or the Any of the above output to the next block, and you will have the same result. There's no need to connect both the button and the Any of the above output, one will do! πŸ˜‰

The Buttons block has answers not connected to any output

If you have a Buttons block with many buttons that will lead to the same output, there is no need to connect them all you can just use the Any of the above output instead πŸ˜‰

If all buttons have the same output

In case you have many buttons in the block, and it does not matter which one the user chooses, you can use the Any of the above output.

Also, you should connect only the Any of the above output, leaving all the buttons without connection, if you have a Buttons block set with Multiple Choice options.

For more information about how to set up the Multiple Choice questions, please check this article.

Using Bricks

It is also possible to use the Default option with Bricks πŸ‘

Don't use the Default when you have already chosen an output

If you have already used an output, the Any of the above output should remain without any connection.

So there is no need to connect the Any of the above output if all buttons have outputs already defined:

For WhatsApp

As the WhatsApp UI is different and users always have the input field available, the Any of the above output plays a bit different role than in Web bots.

In WhatsApp, buttons are displayed as a numbered list of choices, so the valid answer to this type of question will be typing the number corresponding to your choice. In case users type anything else, the flow will follow the Any of the above output of the Buttons block, and it's a good practice to make sure it's connected for this kind of situation!

Nevertheless, the best solution for WhatsApp is using theΒ Keyword Options block! Check out this article for more information about how it works!

For Facebook Messenger

This block behaves exactly the same way as in the Landbot (web) version.
