How to Launch Your Bot

Jonathan Goodfellow Updated by Jonathan Goodfellow

Landbot lets you launch a bot on four channels: Web, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and APIchat. Web suits website visitors and lead generation, WhatsApp suits personalized support and follow-ups, Facebook Messenger suits social media engagement, and APIchat suits custom integrations with your own systems.

How to launch a Web bot

A Web bot runs directly on a website or as a standalone web link. Use it for website visitors, lead generation, and general customer support.

Every Web bot gets a unique URL you can share with users. Opening the URL launches the bot in full-page format in the browser.

  1. Go to Launch > Share with a Link in the builder.
  2. Copy the URL shown.
This URL is not customizable. Publish your changes before sharing it, or users see the last published version instead of your latest edits.
Embed your Web Bot on your Website

Embedding places a Web bot directly on your website so visitors can chat without leaving the page.

  1. Go to Launch > Embed into your Website section.
  2. Choose the display format that best fits your site: Full Page, Webchat or Embed.
  3. Copy the generated code snippet.
  4. Paste the snippet into your website’s HTML where you want the chatbot to appear.
The embed code is ready to use, no additional customization is required

Landbot supports embedding on specific platforms, each with its own step-by-step guide:

How to add social share buttons to a Web bot

Social share buttons let users share your bot's link to Facebook, Twitter, Email, or WhatsApp with one click. Landbot displays these buttons below the bot's shareable URL:

Customize your bot's meta information so shared links display the title, description, and image you want. See Landbot native SEO & Tracking tools.

How to launch a WhatsApp bot

A WhatsApp bot connects to users through the WhatsApp app, using a WhatsApp Business number linked to Landbot. Use it for personalized customer support, notifications, and follow-ups. To launch a WhatsApp bot, connect a WhatsApp Business number to Landbot -> Landbot then sends and receives messages through the official WhatsApp Business API.

What you need before connecting a WhatsApp number
  • A WhatsApp Business phone number that can receive an SMS or phone call notification. Disable any IVR (Interactive Voice Response) on that number.
  • A Facebook Business Manager account (Meta Business Suite) with Admin access.

How to connect a WhatsApp number to your bot:
  1. Go to Channels > WhatsApp in your Landbot dashboard
  1. Click Connect phone number and complete the integration steps with your WhatsApp Business phone number.
  2. Link your bot to the WhatsApp channel.

Once you link the number, anyone who messages it interacts with your bot automatically.

Test your bot before it goes live. See WhatsApp Testing.

For the full number integration process, see Adding a WhatsApp number to your account.

How to launch a Facebook Messenger bot

A Facebook Messenger bot connects Landbot to a Facebook Page so the bot automatically replies to users who message the page through Messenger. Use it to reach customers on Facebook with automated answers, promotions, or support.

What you need before connecting Facebook Messenger
  • A Facebook Page (Messenger bots cannot be connected to personal profiles).
  • Admin access to that page.
  • A Facebook account you can use to log in and authorize the connection.
How to connect a bot to a Facebook Page
  1. Go to Channels > Messenger in your Landbot dashboard.
  1. Login to your Facebook Account
  2. Select the Facebook page you want to link
  3. Configure a Channel Name
  4. Link your bot

You can connect multiple Facebook Pages, each with its own bot, by creating separate Messenger channels in Landbot.

If you have trouble linking your page, see the troubleshooting steps in How to Preview a Messenger bot.

How to launch an APIchat bot

An APIchat bot exchanges messages through an API so it can run on your own app, system, or third-party channel. Use it for custom integrations that need development resources.

  1. Go to Channels > API Chatbot and click Create New Channel.
  1. Enter a Channel Name and your Hook URL.
  2. Click Confirm to generate the Auth Token.
  3. Click Linked Bot and select your bot from the drop-down menu

For a full setup guide, see How to create an APIchat bot and set up the Hook Url.
