For Landbot (Web)

File question

Do you want your candidates to submit their CV? Maybe you need an official document to complete the signup process? File questions are here to help!

  1. First, drag and drop the green dot and type in "File" to create this type of question.
  2. You'll see a menu where you can add text, format it, and customise the variable name where the answer will be saved (by default @file):

  1. All they have to do is click on Select a file and they'll be able to select any file from their computer.
  2. Landbot will generate a link in our servers where you can access this file. You can find it in the Chats section or in the Analyze > Users section of your account.
WARNING: Once you delete the conversation with a user in your Landbot account, the files will be automatically deleted from our servers too!

This is IRREVERSIBLE, we can't recover any of the data once it is deleted.

So we recommend you download the files and save them in your local storage before deleting any conversation containing files.

Depending on your pricing plan, you'll have different storage limits for each file your users upload. Check our Fair Use Policy for more information about these limitations.

For WhatsApp

This block behaves the same way as in the landbot (web) version. The user needs to use the native uplaod functionality of Whatsapp app to select and upload the file.

TIP: It is not possible to customize the Error validation message sent when the user types something instead of adding a file.

To work around this, we suggest using a Question: Text block instead.

In Whatsapp, the Question: Text block also accepts files, so you just have to make sure that the format is the one you expect (not a simple text).

So you must use a Conditions block right after the Question block, verifying that the user has answered something that would be a file.

To do that, you must use the condition CONTAINS .pdf , or .doc (add all the formats you will accept here).

In this example we do it for an audio file, but the solution would be the same for any kind of file.

For Facebook Messenger

Warning: Messenger bots do not accept PDF files at the moment. It does not show the PDF.

For a list of all the types of content you can use in Messenger bots, please see this article.
