Duplicating bots

Hajar Updated by Hajar

As a general rule, after you create a bot belonging to a certain channel (Messenger, WhatsApp & Web), you can't duplicate or move the bot to another channel due to the features and content limitations between channels👆🏻

Nevertheless, we have some tips for different use-cases

Duplicate a Web bot (within the same channel)

  1. Go to your dashboard
  2. Click on the three dots (more actions) in the right corner of the bot that you want to duplicate
  1. Click on Duplicate

Warning: due to security reasons you can't have more bots than chats in your account. e.g., if you have 9 chats and 9 bots, you will not be able to duplicate a bot and have 10 bots.

Duplicate a WhatsApp and a Messenger bot (within the same channel)

You can duplicate a WhatsApp and Messenger bot, the same way as Web bots.

Brick workaround to duplicate bots between channels ⚠️

A great solution for duplicating bots from one channel to another is to create Bricks of different blocks within your bot flow.

Keep in mind that when you create a new Brick, it is only available in the bot where it has been created. So if you want to re-use this Brick in another bot within your account, you must create a Brick Template out of this Brick.

Once you created Brick Templates, you can import them into your Web bot.

We encourage you to read our Brick template article to get further information about this tool 🤓

IMPORTANT: Please keep in mind that some features and blocks are not compatible with all channels, especially the ones designed for WhatsApp bots. Take a look at this list of Features Not compatible with WhatsApp bots. If you have blocks from this list implemented in your bot and you duplicate them and insert them in a WhatsApp bot, or vice versa, they won't work.
