Duplicating bots

Sofia Teran Updated by Sofia Teran

As a general rule, after you link a bot to a specific channel (Messenger, WhatsApp & Web), you can't duplicate or move the bot to another channel due to the features and content limitation between channelsπŸ‘†πŸ»

Nevertheless, we have some tips for different use-cases:

Duplicate a Web bot

  1. Go to your dashboard
  2. Click on the three dots (more actions) in the right corner of the bot that you want to duplicate
  1. Click on Duplicate

Here's a video of the whole process:

Warning: due to security reasons you can't have more bots than chats in your account. e.g., if you have 9 chats and 9 bots, you will not be able to duplicate a bot and have 10 bots.

Duplicate a WhatsApp and Messenger bot

You can duplicate a WhatsApp and Messenger bot, because this type of bot can be used for either WhatsApp or Messenger, but not at the same time.

If you want to use the same bot for both, make sure you duplicate the bot before you assign it to a channel (when it's "unlinked" to WhatsApp or Facebook logos)Once you have done that, you can assign one bot to WhatsApp and one to Messenger πŸ’‘

  • Once you assign it to WhatsApp it turns into a WhatsApp bot:Β

We recommend you take a further look at our Creating WhatsApp bots article and our WhatsApp testing channel article.

  • Once you assign it to a Facebook Messenger, it turns into a Messenger bot:Β

Brick workaround to duplicate bots between channels ⚠️

A great solution for this case is to create Bricks of different blocks within your bot flow.

Keep in mind that when you create a new Brick, it is only available in the bot where it has been created. So if you want to re-use this Brick in another bot within your account, you must create a Brick Template out of this Brick.

Once you created Brick Templates, you can import them into your Web bot.

We encourage you to read our Brick template article to get further information about this tool πŸ€“
